Have you ever considered contributing a learning idea to be published in the Teaching Tolerance magazine? Now is the time. It’s a wonderful way for you to share engaging activities with your peers.
Teaching Tolerance welcomes submissions of creative and effective learning activities. Submissions (up to 400 words) should include concise information on specific activities, related to teaching a social justice theme/issue. They may be for Grades PreK-2, 3-5, 6-8 or 9-12 and they may focus on one or more subject areas.
Here are a few tips to jumpstart your writing:
- Become familiar with previously published Activity Exchange pieces; here are a few models: Brush Up on Respect, Take a Stand and Flags for Peace, Understanding Past and Present Labor Injustice through Music.
- Brainstorm a few submission activity possibilities.
- Write from a personal/reflective narrative; detailing the process of the learning experience, while adhering to a beginning, middle and end.
- Write several drafts and share your drafts with your peers.
- Polish and submit to Teaching Tolerance.
Please include your full name, phone number, mailing and email address with your submission. Only the teachers whose submissions are chosen to be included in Activity Exchange will be contacted. Teachers whose activities are selected will receive compensation for publication.
Submit to: Teaching Tolerance, Attn: Activity Exchange, 400 Washington Avenue, Montgomery, Alabama 36104 or e-mail editor@tolerance.org.
I look forward to learning about what you’re doing in your classes. Have fun writing!
