Denise Alston

Denise Alston is a Senior Policy Analyst for the National Education Association. In her time at NEA, she has helped make improvement of low-performing schools an NEA priority. Her work involves helping districts shift to a systems approach to standards-based accountability and assisting schools in self-assessment through the NEA's Keys to Excellence in Your Schools program. Prior to joining NEA, Denise was Senior Education Associate at the Children's Defense Fund and a Research Associate at the National Governors Association, where she worked on a range of school change and educational equity issues.
