Commonly Held Beliefs that Influence Teachers' Work with Diverse Students

Teachers want their students to learn. Many teachers make an effort to be particularly responsive to racially and ethnically diverse students. These efforts are influenced by the beliefs teachers hold and the lessons they are taught about how to facilitate students' learning.
