School leaders play an important role in creating and nurturing the conditions that support effective teaching and learning for racially and ethnically diverse students. Effective school principals foster leadership among other members of the school community—teachers, students and parents. Much of the discussion below focuses on school principals, but most of the actions described can also be performed by other school leaders as well.
