Congrats to This Year’s Mix It Up Model Schools!

Over 3,000 schools across the country challenged social boundaries on national Mix It Up at Lunch Day last November. Some schools took it to the next level by actively embracing respect and inclusiveness as core values of their school communities.

Over 3,000 schools across the country challenged social boundaries on national Mix It Up at Lunch Day last November. Some schools took it to the next level by actively embracing respect and inclusiveness as core values of their school communities.

Mix It Up Model Schools found creative ways to foster respect and understanding by sponsoring ways for students to examine social divisions on campus and cross them—all year long.

Our thanks to the dedicated teachers and administrators who were committed to working with their students to dismantle social divisions and create safe and welcoming school communities. We must make special note of the William S. Hart Union High School District in California for offering Mix It Up activities district-wide.

To help your school host a successful national Mix It Up at Lunch Day event November 9, 2010, Teaching Tolerance will share some ideas and activities from our Model Schools beginning in September. Maybe next year your school will be named a Mix It Up Model School.
