Frequently Asked Questions

Thank you for your interest in Teaching Tolerance. If you have questions that are not addressed on this page, please do not hesitate to contact us.

My Account

My school is not showing up on the map. How do I register?

If your organization is not showing up, please choose a nearby location on the map, and then select the option to mail the materials to a secondary mailing address. This will allow you to receive materials at any valid mailing address. Please contact us if you’re still having trouble signing up.

Google Maps use a specific validation method to make sure organizations exist in their proper locations. Many organizations are not aware of this. If you would like to have your organization verified with Google, forward this link to your IT or Administration office.

I’m already subscribed to the newsletter. Do I still need to sign up for an account?

You can access most of the materials on our site without creating an account. With a free account, though, you can take full advantage of everything the site has to offer. Sign up today to subscribe to the magazine, create learning plans, view our full library of student texts, bookmark and comment on your favorite articles or lessons, and order film kits.

Reprints and Permissions

How do I get permission to reprint an article from the Teaching Tolerance website?

Please feel free to make copies of any of our materials for educational use, or to link to any of the materials on our website. Send any requests to republish our materials in print or online to our contact form. Be sure to include a link to the material you wish to republish and information about the publication in which you’d like to reprint it.

Orders and Subscriptions

How much do the Teaching Tolerance film kits cost?

Our film kits, along with all of the other materials we offer on our site, are FREE to educators in schools and organizations.

I am not a current educator working for a school or organization. Can I still order a film kit?

Our films include materials we’ve licensed only for educational use. To make sure that we are within the limits of these rights agreements—and to keep our film kits free to educators—we send the physical kits only to K–12 schools, schools of education, public libraries and youth-serving organizations.

Writing for Teaching Tolerance

I’m interested in writing for Teaching Tolerance. Where can I get more information?

You can find our writer’s guidelines here. Please keep in mind that we publish only three magazine issues each year, and thus accept very few submissions for feature stories. Be sure to look at our guidelines for short articles as well. We publish several short articles on our website each week.

I’m interested in attending an upcoming webinar, but I’m not available at the scheduled time. Is there a way to watch it after the live date?

Yes! All of our webinars are posted on our website after the live events. If you do not think you’ll be able to attend the webinar live, register anyway. We’ll send you a link to the on-demand version of the webinar so that you can watch at your convenience. You can also access any of our past webinars here.
