The following excerpt (pages 12-15) comes from a larger interview session conducted in 1969 with notable civil rights activist A. Phillip Randolph. Although various subjects of discussion are threaded throughout the interview, the focus of this excerpt is A. Philip Randolph’s advocacy to prompt President Harry Truman to pass Executive Order 9981 which would bar Jim Crow in the Armed forces.
