The Ground on Which I Stand

“If you do not know, I will tell you: Black theatre in America is alive, it is vibrant, it is vital … it just isn’t funded.” The man who wrote these words was August Wilson. He was an African American playwright, famous for also writing The Pittsburgh Cycle—a collection of 10 plays chronicling 100 years of African American experience.
